Active duty and reserve component Soldiers, their spouses and civilian employees of the Army can use the services of the Community Education Complex at Fort Richardson to advance their education in numerous ways.

Fort Richardson offers the full range of Army adult education services in BLDG 7. These include education counseling, a testing office, and computer labs with access to GoArmyEd and adaptive equipment for disabled students, fundamental academic skills training (FAST), digital training facility, a learning resource center (LRC) and library, and college classes. All military, adult family members, and civilian employees are welcome.

Continuing Education

All military, adult family members, and civilian employees are welcome.

Services are free except students must pay for tuition, fees, and books, and civilians must pay for most testing fees. FAST classes are offered daily for basic skills improvement and GED preparation. The testing office offers CLEP, DANTES, SAT/ACT, PRAXIS, AFAST, DLAB, DLPT, college placement tests, and proctoring service for those taking tests from on-line classes.

The LRC provides reference and research assistance along with a recreational and MOS library and is open 7:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m., Monday-Friday and 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. You can access them online. For more information contact the center at 907-384-0970 or DSN 317-384-0970.

College

On-post colleges offer certification courses as well as AA/AS, BA/BS and MA/MA college degrees. They include Central Texas College (CTC), Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), the University of Alaska Anchorage(UAA), and Wayland Baptist University (WBU). UAA and WBU have additional sites off post. Classes are offered from 7:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m. and on the weekends. Alaska Pacific University is also a private university located off post.

Soldiers may apply for tuition assistance through the Education Center office. On-post colleges also have some scholarships available for military spouses.
