IN PROCESSING

All officers and enlisted soldiers must report to the Welcome Center on arrival. The Personnel Center is located at Richardson St. Bldg Number 600. You can reach them at 907-384-0425 or DSN 317-384-0425.

You can expect to be with the detachment for 5 days. When you get signed in, you will receive a billeting assignment, bedding and a temporary meal card if you are not on separate rations. If your family arrives with you, the Fort Richardson Lodge will help make them comfortable during your inprocessing. To make things easier with attaining temporary housing for your family, please make reservations at the Fort Richardson Lodge. (907)384-5660.

You should have all of your personal records on hand. Personnel, Finance, Medical and Dental. You must be in uniform to inprocess. The duty uniform at Fort Richardson, AK is ACU. Be sure that you have enough uniforms with you to begin duties after inprocessing.

Make sure that your PCS orders state that you are authorized to travel the ALCAN or the ALCAN and marine highway of you are going to be using both. If you deviate from your travel plans, you need to have your orders amended to receive travel pay that will adequately cover your mode of transportation.

For your family to accompany you to Alaska, your PCS orders must say concurrent travel and have each family member's name on your orders. Since Alaska is considered an "overseas assignment", each family member must have completed the Exceptional Family Member screening and have Command Sponsorship.

If your PCS orders say "deferred travel" for your family, then you need to travel to Alaska alone. After you arrive in Alaska, you can begin the Command Sponsorship process. Have your family complete the Exceptional Family Member screening at the losing pst and wait to hear from you for further instructions.

For more information, you can inquire with your current Military Personnel Division, local Army Community Service or Exceptional Family Member Program Manager, 907-384-0225.
Prior to starting the inprocessing procedure everyone reporting to Fort Richardson, Alaska, must report to the Welcome Center located in Building 600, Room B103. Inprocessing takes 5 days. The first and third Wednesday and Thursday of each month is the Newcomers Orientation. Newcomers Orientation is designed to acquaint you with the services available on the installation and the surrounding community. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend.

If you have further questions about inprocessing, contact the 203rd Personnel Support Detachment at 907-384-0425. For questions on relocation, contact the Relocation Readiness Program Manager at 907-384-1515.

Soldiers in pay grades E1-E6 will be assigned barracks rooms and linen if unaccompanied. Married soldiers will be directed to go to the Billeting Office, Building 600, phone number 907-384-0436. For assignment of government housing or temporary quarters you will be directed to Family Housing located at Building 600, phone number 907-384-0309.
